Draper History

The company Draper Tools was founded in 1919 by Bert Draper a young engineer who started out selling government surplus and tools around the market places of Kingston upon Thames.

After a big success here a warehouse was bought in Kingston and the Draper Tool Company Ltd was launched. After many years of designing and making their own brands not to mention delivering all over the country (other tool brands as well), the company bought premises in Chandler Ford, Hampshire via auction in 1962 which really begun the big growth that is shown by the success today.

Now, being run by John Draper, the companies headquarters boasts about 400,000 sq.ft of space and around 350 staff.

In 1996, pre-tax profits came in at £6.7m on £43.4m of sales. Its asset base stood at £52.2m, while borrowings are negligible.
